Week one - Term three

Room 8 have had a great first week of school. We have also been very busy starting from Monday. We found out that we have prayers and assembly coming up. On Thursday we had sports swap when our class does sports with rooms 5,6,7 and 9. Room 8 started with hockey with miss O'Neill where we learnt how to use a hockey stick and pass. We had a really fun time. On Friday we had mufti day which was a great end to the first week.

Watercare

Watercare

We had Sally from watercare come to teach us all about how our water is treated. We did some drama to learn about the water cycle where we pretended we were water droplets. Then we got to create filters to clean our mucky water.

Book week

We love dressing up in our book week costumes!

Science in a van

As an introduction to science week we had Science in a van come and visit us at school. They told us all about atoms and molecules and about the periodic table.

Gardening week

Our science experiment

On Tuesday Mrs Drummond was in room 8 because Miss O'Neill was at touch rugby. Because it is gardening week, we did an experiment using celery to understand how plants suck up water through their stems.
Here are the results

Mihi/Pepeha

Pepeha

In Maori we are looking at our pepeha. These tell a person lots of important information about us. Over the weekend we need to collect some details to include in our pepeha writing next week.
We hope that our mum's and dads can help us write some of these things down to use.

The sentences we will be using are on the template below
