Week 9

This week we had our pool session where we got to practice working with life jackets. We first fitted our jackets, making sure there was no room for our buddy to put their hands down the front. We also checked if they were tight enough to not slip up over our ears.

Next we rolled into the pool in our HELP position.

We also practiced our help position, help signal and huddles in the water

Get NZ writing

Rooms 7 and 8 have participated in the Warehouse Stationary's 'Get NZ Writing' program. We worked on putting together a poster for our buddy school that shared things like
- How many people in our class can lick their elbows
- What can be found 5 km away from our school
- What are some other words to say the word 'a lot'

And loads more.

We also worked on some BRILLIANT metaphor poems that we wrote onto post cards for our buddy class.
We really look forward to receiving our postcards and poster from our buddy class in Dannevirke.

Week 8 - Sienna, Liam and William

Drowning prevention Auckland

On Thursday  Leilani came into Room 8 to teach us some life jacket safety.
She taught us how to put on a life jacket in the water.

She also taught us how to make a survival chain if you fall off a boat and how to do the help signal.

You put one hand up and look up at the sky and keep it still. As well as teaching us the help position she taught us want help stands for

H – means heat
E – means energy
L – means lessening
P – means position

Next week we practice all these things we learned in the pool!

St Joseph's day

On Monday we went to church to celebrate St Joseph’s day. After morning tea we had St Joseph’s day tabloid sports. There were loads of fun games like: 4 corners, stuck in the mud, an obstacle course, a soccer game and a crocodile game.

Afterwards we had a sausage sizzle and our normal lunch. It was great!

Week 7 - Leo, Cicely and Maverick

Kia Ora all,

This week we have been learning about UV Ray. Ray taught us all about ultraviolet radiation (UV) which is found in sunlight. There are three types of UV rays: UVA, UVB and UVC rays. UVB rays are the most powerful and most dangerous, causing sunburns that can lead to skin cancer.
We did an experiment that proved how sunscreen protected our skin from the suns rays.
Ask us kids to explain

Narratives (Rooms 7 & 8)

One hot, bright morning, a girl named Rose lived in a cottage with her father. She liked watering the flowers. After breakfast she found a little plant. It looked like it needed water so she gave it some water. The plan shot up into the sky. Rose climbed it. It took so, so, so long to climb up. Finally she was there. She saw a beautiful rain forest with butterflies, fruit and a big rainbow. Rose wanted to go up the rainbow so she did. After she was up, she went down at the end. She saw a castle with a little girl. She needed some help. Rose went in. The girl said, "please help me, I don't have a friend". "That's easy", said Rose. "But how? I don't know how because I don't have spells and I have nobody". "You do now, but I can't stay". Then Rose had an idea. "Did you say a spell can work too?" "Yes". "So I can help you. What do you need?" The girl told Rose what she needed so that Rose could make it. They looked for a mouse and put a spell on it and the mouse wanted to be a friend. The girl thanked Rose and gave her a treasure and it glowed and shined and sparkled.

On Saturday, Logan Paul went to his brothers Jake Paul to vlog with him because he wanted to spend time with him and his family. They made funny videos to make people laugh in real life. Then Jake bought a McLarren for Logan because Jake loved him. Then Logan said, "Oh my gosh Jake". Then Logan said, "Thank you Jake". Then the McLarren broke down. Then Jake pulled out his Iphone and called 911. The police called an engineer to help them fix the McLarren. Then Jake and Logan drove the McLarren home.

In Dublin, 1982, May, in the docks it was dark as coal. It was quiet as zombie report. The next day the fishermen saw blood as red as tomato sauce. At Bobo's burgers, one of the fishermen had just remembered that he had to do a delivery. He hopped in his Volkswagen with wooden wheels and black exterior which had a trailer with the brand 'FORD' at the back. It was made out of steel. He drove past the police station. He parked in the parking lot. He saw his friend Officer Daniel in a black overcoat, white top made out of cotton and black dress pants. He was wearing wing shoes On his badge it said 'Guarde'. The fisherman hopped out of his car and his friend drove off. The fisherman said "Nooooooooo!". He saw 'reception'. He asked "Can i see the special operations officers?". The fisherman handed over a report. The man at the desk slammed a stamp onto the paper. It said 'Police confirmed, Sergeant James'.
